We had a great tournament in spite of the cool weather, wind and rain. The tournament was rained out on Saturday, but we played a shortened tournament on Sunday and had a wonderful time.
The banquet was a great success in spite of the eather - Betty Minkel arranged it and did a great job! Thanks also to Ruth Johnson who made wonderful rice bags as gifts for all BSTC members.

Carmen Perez won the $50 tournament prize drawing. This was the 2nd time this season - how lucky can you be!
APRIL TOURNAMENT
The April tournament will be held on April 21 & 22, 2001. It will be ladies doubles and mens doubles. If you are planning to play in the April tournament, please sign up by Friday, April 20 at the clubhouse in Borrego Springs. You may also sign up by phoning Gary Edwards at home at 619-390-8412 or email him at garyre@home.com before Thursday of that week. After Thursday phone Gary on his cell phone at 619-992-8412 or phone Pete Azar on his cell phone at 619-743-9658. You may also phone one of our members who will be in Borrego by Friday and ask them to sign up for you. The draw will be completed by 9:00 P.M. Friday night and play will begin at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday morning.

BSTC 2001-2002 SEASON
We received an email from the new owners of the tennis facility in BOrrego.
They are Sandi and Borden Granger from Baker City, Oregon - we welcome them to Borrego Springs!
They have a grass court facility in Oregon which they operate during the summer and are looking forward to spending their winters in Borrego.
They will be living in an RV in back of the tennis center and have plans to make improvements on the tennis center as needed. They have had the drip system checked out and fixed the leak in the ladies bathroom. They have ordered new wind screens for the entire complex.
They have agreed with our dates and on a total of $6000 for 6 tournaments. They say we can arrive on Wednesday, however, on Wed, THu, Fri, and Mon, tow courts need to be available if someone outside our club wants to play.
They are looking forward to meeting all of us and of course we are looking forward to returning to Borrego!

OCTOBER TOURNAMENT
The first tournament of the 2001-2002 season will be held on October 27 & 28.
It will be a mixed doubles tournament.
