This not-for-profit club has been around since about 1975. Membership has varied a bit, but has been around 50, more or less. Tournaments average in the vicinity of 30-40 participants.

All meetings of the club involve tennis competition. The club usually meets at 6 tournaments each season at the Borrego clubhouse on Palm Canyon Drive. Tournaments alternate between mixed and straight doubles. These tournaments are spaced about 1 month apart starting around Halloween (usually on the Borrego Days weekend - the beginning of the Borrego tourist season), and ending around mid-April - the end of the Borrego tourist season. One or two other meetings may occur during the summer in cooler climates. Some of the places have included Lake Tahoe, Fullerton, El Cajon and San Clemente.

The club is a non-property owning organization. It currently rents the facility for the tournaments. The facility has been almost exclusively in Borrego Springs, where it has been continuously ever since a brief interruption in the 90's, when the location shifted to Saboda Springs near Hemet due to an inability to rent because of a change in ownership of the Borrego facility at that time.

Club members get together at Saturday potlucks during each tournament, except the last of the season, where a banquet is catered.

For the 2014-15 Season, BSTC Membership fees are as follows:

  1. Annual Full-Membership Fee: $75
  2. Tournament Fee: $10 (Paid at every tournament.)
  3. First-time guest: $10 tournament fee, with the option to join on a prorated-season membership basis during the first season only.
  4. Returning non-member players: (Have never joined the Club) $30 ($20 + $10 = $30), one time annually; must join ($75) if playing again during the same season. The $20 already paid would be applied to the $75 annual membership fee.
  5. Snowbird or any returning player traveling over 150 miles: $30 ($20 + $10 = $30) each tournament played with the option of becoming a full member. Each $20 portion of the fee paid to play a tournament would be applied to the $75 annual membership fee.
  6. Returning past-member players: (Have been a member sometime in the past) $30 ($20 + $10 = $30), one time annually; must join at Full Membership Fee ($75) if playing again during the same season.
  7. Annual Friend of the Tennis Club (FTC) Membership Donation: $25 for a non-playing spouse/companion and any other non-playing attendee, which covers 6 tournaments; or $5 for each attendance.
  8. Children Players: Adult rules apply.
  9. Non-playing children: Free.
